Clothes/Shopping - A Reason to Lose Weight
Hanlie suggested I explore the reasons for my apathy toward weightloss. Very good idea, except I am not just apathetic toward weightloss, but everything in my life. I could care less about school, which is a first for me. I have always cared a little, but today I almost didn’t go to class when we had a test. I just didn’t care.
Don’t get me wrong, Im not depressed or anything, I am just very apathetic. I feel like nothing holds my interest for longer than a few seconds and even then it is a very small amount of interest.
So instead of exploring the causes of this apathy, which really could use a therapist to sort it all out, I am just going to go with the other suggestion… listing reasons why I want to lose weight so I can kick start myself with some super motivation.
The reason for weight loss currently on my mind is clothes. I realized the other day that I generally wear jeans and tshirt because I want to cover myself up, not because they are comfortable (which they are). I forgo a lot of cute outfits and clothes combinations because I am not comfortable with how clothes fit me. I am a 14/16 so I usually buy clothes at normal stores, but they don’t seem to look good on me. Or at least I don’t think they do. So I don’t wear half the stuff I buy.
I like to buy new clothes, especially dresses, but I haven’t been doing that as much since I jumped up to this weight. I want to lose weight so I can buy cute things then actually wear them. Its no fun to have a closet of clothes you don’t want to wear because you feel fat or to go shopping and buy nothing because nothing looks good.
I have decided that when I get down to 180 I will get myself a little shopping spree (maybe dollars equal to pounds, which for me is a spree). It will also be a little trip because I will go to St. Louis to do the shopping. I am going there because they have an H&M, my FAV store from Europe that I definitely can’t shop at here in Memphis. I can’t wait… sooo excited about that haha.

Healthy You Challenge Check-In
Well, well, well. I haven’t been on my blog, or looking at any one else’s for a week. That is definitely not normal. But now… back to normal… I have a new computer and will be able to check on blogs more often. Hurray!
So,this week has been iffy regarding weight loss. I guess my heart just isn’t in it these days. My training, my eating, it is all just on the back burner. Strange, since nothing is on the front burner. I have nothing, absolutely nothing, that should be stopping me from putting my full effort behind losing weight.
I have nothing stopping me… I just need to do it. My goal for next week is to put more effort behind losing weight, specifically behind exercising. Work it out.
Focus girl, focus! Work harder! Graduation is coming up and I need to look GOOD.

Healthy You Challenge Check-In
I totally forgot about check-in on Tuesday. I actually wasn’t anywhere near a computer, so I guess it wouldn’t have helped to remember. I’m at work so this will be quick: No change!
My goal for this week is to run a lot more because last week I only ran once. Sad day.

Being Broke Inspires A New Weight Loss Plan
Today I sat down to do something and instead at half a box of my roommates Cheez-Its. Hope she isn’t mad.
The bad eating trend continued with the cheerios I am eating now. Snacky, snacky me.
This emotional eating is brought to you by a terrible case of money loss. Just when I felt like I was as broke as I possibly could be, I lost 400 to a scam. On top of losing 400 dollars, I feel quite stupid.
Mmmmm, cheerios. Wait, eating costs money. I must stop eating! :) At least I have found a new weight loss plan.

Healthy You Check-In
Let’s just ignore my last post. I don’t want to delete it, but pretend its not there and Memphis didn’t lose. Sad day.
Anyway, I am down another pound for this week to 221. I think the weight loss will slow down a bit now that I am eating normally again. Darn. It was so nice to just lose because I didn’t feel like eating.
My goals for this week are to get all my workouts in and then some, even though I have really long and busy days. I can totally do it and so can everyone else.
Congrats to all the people chosen in the Memphis Biggest Loser contest. Good luck to you!

Vols are going down…
Today is such a good day. I sent the payment for my new computer… I should get it in the mail by Tuesday! Then I will have time to stay online and catch up on everyone’s progress. I miss blog reading. Its a lovely hobby.
Oh yeah, and tonight MEMPHIS will beat Tennessee. GO TIGERS! (Can you tell I am excited?)

:)
I have to say, I am pretty amazed that Karson with a K was at my little blog. Just saying. I love Q107.5. By next week they will have more on the Memphis Biggest Loser Contest. I am excited for all the contestants. Any time there is something in the Memphis area promoting healthier lifestyles I get really excited because that is something we lack around these parts.
Anyway, I just wanted to write a quick post about this week. It has been a really good week for me. Workouts have been awesome, I haven’t been eating much at all, and I am losing weight steadily. It is all pretty exciting. I love weeks where everything goes right with weightloss. It makes those hard weeks easier because you can remember the “good times.”

Healthy You Check-In
Awesome check-in this week. 222 this morning. Down 3 for the week, 6 from the start. Yay!
My computer died so I am trying to live without it, which is hard since a lot of what I do is computer/internet related. Right now I am on a friend’s computer. Oh well. One more thing to stress about in my life.

Setback After Setback, How to Deal
[[[Sick, sick, cough, cough]]] Turns out I got sick by going home for a week. My mom was sick so I should have known I would catch whatever it was that she had. But hey, being sick can do great things for weight loss, haha.
This is a minor setback because I will soon recover and start running again. I missed half a week of workouts though, and after last week of not doing anything I feel very far behind. I know I will catch up, but it isn’t going to be an easy ride. I have been thinking about setbacks, and what you can do to get past them. Here are a few of my thoughts. Please share yours as well.
How to deal with setbacks:
- Step back and look at the situation. If the setback is something that you caused, take responsibility and don’t blame others. Evaluate the setback and determine what your next move should be.
- Bounce back toward reaching your goal. Reevaluate the goals you set and more importantly what it will now take to reach them. You might have to adjust your tactics, but if your goals are realistic try not to change them. Concentrate on how great it will be when you finally reach that goal.
- Approach the task with perseverance and dedication. Remember that success is never easy and will be a step by step process. It is up to you whether you fight through setbacks or just let them ruin your weight loss.
Hopefully I will get past this soon. What do you do to get past setbacks in weight loss?

Reason to Lose Weight: Obesity Raises Cancer Risk
Ive been sick since my last post so no running for me. Ive done some sad little situps and stretching and such, but really moved very little. Oh how wonderful the couch is when you feel like crap. I am feeling better so I wanted to share some interesting information about another reason I want to lose weight.
We all know that obesity raises the risk for heart disease, diabetes, and other things. But now scientists have proven the extra pounds raise a person’s chance to develop 12 different types of cancer. Previously it was noted that obesity may raise the risk of colon and breast cancers, but now it scientists also consider more rare types of cancer such as gallbladder, kindey, and uterus.
”One of the hypotheses is that the presence of excess fat cells could affect the levels of hormones in your body,” Renehan said. “At a cellular level, that may favor the development of tumors in humans.”
Because many studies have found that fatter people are more likely to get cancer, experts often recommend losing weight to reduce cancer risk.
“The simple message is that, if you manage to keep a healthy body weight, you will have a lower risk of developing cancer,” said Ed Yong, of Cancer Research United Kingdom.
